Update: Hasting and Ending DADT

Representative Alcee Hastings isn’t letting President's vacation in the Vineyard get in the way of taking care of the business of civil rights and ending discrimination against gay and lesbian servicemembers. He sent a letter to the President Barack Obama yesterday complaining that he has not received a response to an earlier letter urging an end to investigations of gay soldiers.

  1. Obama has made it pretty clear that he's putting the onus on Congress to reverse its DADT policy. Putting his thumb on the scale will only divert attention from the proper targets, those members of Congress who need to vote to end DADT. That's where the pressure needs to be. Perhaps Hastings would like to address some letter to his colleagues in the House and Senate.
